The process to make normal or regular glass to become toughened is to heat the glass almost to melting point (around 600 degrees Celsius) and then rapidly cool it. This is called the tempering or Toughening process and is done on request at the glass processing plant.

Toughened glass is commonly used by architects and designers due to its structural properties plus the ability to be transparent and is very popular with Balustrading inside and out side of the home.
